I use affiliate links throughout my site in hope of getting some kind of payout, for hunting up and writing all this stuff! If you click through on one of my links and buy something from Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk or ThinkGeek, then (all technical stuff working properly), I'll get a minor commission. This makes me very happy, as you may imagine.
Why ThinkGeek?
You may notice from a casual browse through this site that I recommend ThinkGeek quite a lot. This is for two reasons.
The first is that I've actually bought quite a lot of stuff from them, both for myself and as gifts. I live in New Zealand, and a lot of the time, Amazon won't actually ship things to me, or the shipping costs are outrageous. ThinkGeek will ship to New Zealand, but has quite pricey shipping, as they tend to go straight to a large box, so it's usually a good deal for me to buy a lot of stuff at once.
The other reason is that they just have so much awesome stuff! While there's a lot of junk on there, and a few things I simply can't get shipped overseas (food, plants, and the really large weaponry replicas), it's a great site. They have a lot of exclusive items and official replicas, as well as things that are widely available. Very often things will appear there long before they're available on Amazon.
I have found them to be a very good and reliable company, and while I've had a few problems, such as ordered items not being included, a cable missing from a SATA to USB converting kit, or the local couriers completely losing my delivery packages, ThinkGeek has always had great customer service and usually replaced things straight away.
Other companies
Amazon is the easiest site to find most things on and convenient for a lot of people, so I'll almost always link directly to the products on Amazon and Amazon UK for your convenience. Occasionally particular products may only be found on specific sites, so I will link to those sites as they become relevant.
I have noticed that a lot of geeky, fandom related or unique stuff tends to be very expensive on the UK side; I'm guessing that this is because it isn't widely available yet, and you're paying the full cost of importing it. It's worth checking out different sites and comparing the shipping.
